St. Michael Statement of Welcome & Affirmation
St. Michael Statement of Welcome & Affirmation
We affirm that we are followers of Jesus Christ and of the Gospel, which calls us into ever-deepening relationship with God and into lives of mercy, compassion, and reconciliation founded on love toward all people, especially those who are marginalized or made to feel unwelcome.
We affirm the message of the apostle Paul: “There is no longer Jew nor Greek, there is no longer slave nor free, there is no longer male nor female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28, NRSVUE). We believe that all are one in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, we, the members of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Unionville, PA, welcome all who are seeking God. We affirm the sacredness of every person and extend a warm invitation to all our siblings in Christ. We welcome people of every race, culture, faith tradition, nationality, economic background, ability, sexual orientation, gender expression, and LGBTQIA+ identity. We welcome all because God welcomes all.
We embrace our siblings, friends and families who seek Christ with us. To all who are searching, hurting, questioning, or hoping, we say: You are God’s child, and this is God’s house. Here, you are welcome just as you are — with your joys and your struggles, your questions and your hopes.
We pledge to live as a reconciling people, imitating Jesus Christ in our life together and in our outreach to the world.
